Dr. Shikha Sharma is a professor of geology and the director of the IsoBioGeM Laboratory at West Virginia University.
Professor Sharma has led several transdisciplinary multi-institutional collaborative research efforts focused on the environment and sustainable energy solutions related to shale gas, geothermal systems, subsurface carbon/hydrogen storage, and, more recently, critical and rare earth minerals.
Her energy-environment research is supported by several million-dollar research grants from various federal agencies like the Department of Energy, National Energy Technology Laboratory, Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy, National Science Foundation, and Environmental Protection Agency. In addition, she has authored >60 high-impact peer-review publications, mentored several Ph.D./MS/UG students, and represented WVU at regional outreach and congressional events
